Wildfire Burning
Three Miles from TMM Mission Base in Nenana, Alaska
Adam and Lyndy White, missionaries serving in
Alaska with The Master's Mission since 1999, just telephoned the mission
headquarters in North Carolina to report a wildfire that has moved to
within 3 miles of the station in Nenana, Alaska. As of Thursday the
wildfire has consumed several thousand acres and is being fought in wind
gusts of 15 -25 mph.
Adam is moving the plane to the Tanana River
at the Nenana Municipal Airport as a precaution.
Please pray for the White Family and the current situation with the
wildfire.

Nenana Evacuated As Strong Winds
Move Fire Closer
Adam and Lyndy White
called at 3 am (EST) this morning to tell us officials are evacuating
Nenana as the fire moved closer Friday. They will be evacuated to
Fairbanks, about an hour north of Nenana.
Here is a recent email from Randy and Deb White, Adam's parents in
Georgia:
"Adam called
this morning at 2:30AM our time on the satellite phone. All
utilities were cut off in Nenana and they had issued a voluntary
evacuation. He had gotten Lyndy and the girls off to Fairbanks and
was heading to the plane. The fire had jumped the river & airport
runway in a couple spots with strong winds propelling it. When he
called back at 5 his first words were "Prayer is powerful!". They
had so far been able to contain it and keep it from spreading into town.
He was at the house listening to all the radio traffic (there are dozens
of firefighters as well as planes & choppers dropping fire retardants).
They've asked him to stay in town as an EMT for emergencies. They're
very well prepared for this type disaster as it is a constant threat in
the summer there but, as we know, you're never emotionally prepared for
the possibility of loosing your home and all those around you. When
Lyndy left, she took their computer and files with her and plan to stay
with a pastor in Fairbanks.
We continue to pray God's hand hold the fire at bay and no further
property damage is done not to mention protection for all those working
the fire and living in it's path.
Please continue to
pray for favorable winds and general conditions as the fire continues to
burn.
