The Nicholson Niche

“I led them with cords of human kindness,

with ties of love. To them I was like one

who lifts a little child to the cheek,

and I bent down to feed them.”

Hosea 11:4 NIV

When we think about world missions, we should think: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:27 ESV)  World missions doesn’t just take place overseas but is what we do every day right where we find ourselves; in our homes, in our neighborhoods, on our jobs, in our schools. We should be holistically focused on obedience to these commands of the Lord in every facet of our lives and therefore live out our calling of building God’s kingdom, the church through loving, intentional relationships with those God places around us. When we “love our neighbors as ourselves”, we exhibit the character and nature of God and adorn the Gospel we share.   God uses His message and our witness to draw lost men, women, boys and girls to faith in Jesus Christ, His son and our Savior.

Being motivated to commit our lives to this very purpose; Charles was recently able to visit Kenya for a couple of weeks where he spent several days at the TMM base camp in Nairobi then traveled several hundred miles North to our mission station in Ngurunit. While at the station he visited the surrounding village, its people and the sites. He was able to attend worship service and was blessed with hearing his first message preached in Swahili by a young man named Lasonton; one of the maturing and faithful guys in the Church there.  Here are some of the pictures from this visit. …

We are still planning a tentative date of January 2016 to leave for Kenya and we are praying for the people of God to respond to the Lord’s prompting to partner with us to “go” where He is calling us to.  Often people don’t realize the multiple ways in which they can support the needs of those with a calling to a particular place of service. Most of us take time to think, meditate and pray for others, especially those of the household of Faith and we possess  property that could be used as an asset to help meet those needs. (1John 3:14-18)  Consider these scriptural examples of God’s provision through others:  Elijah and the widow’s oil, 1 Kings 17:8-16, Boaz to Ruth, Ruth 2, the Church to each other, Acts 4:32-37, Philippians 4:14-20. In connection with a willingness to partner with us and help “send us on the way”, we would ask that each of you consider any opportunities to host us in your homes and communities were we may gather with mission minded brothers and sisters of whom the Lord may stir to further obedience in support of world missions.

In an effort to remain connected and informed, we would like to correspond electronically with those who have e-mail and/or Facebook. If you would like to receive via e-mail please send us an e-mail using the contact page below, our Facebook page is Nicholson Niche: Our journey to Ngurunit.  If you would like to continue receiving printed and mailed correspondence you don’t have to do anything- we will continue  to send updates and our News Letter.

Thank all of you for your support, whether through prayer and/or financial partnership. We could not do this without your obedience to the Lord’s prompting and His provision-hope to see you all soon and look forward to hearing from you too!
